Still Extant I. – African Elephant

2010
felt, individual technique
Size: 126 × 114 cm
(49,6″ × 44,8″)

Projecting and magnifying its lack in the future, the elephant appears as a shadow in this picture. Where is it? Is it only a shadow among the colourful foliage?

After dying the yarns and wool, I prepareed unfinished pieces of felt and arranged them into one composition. I kneaded them with the traditional wet technique afterwards. I enhanced the shadow-effect with mixing in claret-coloured silk. The beautiful, creased facture fits in very well with the rich network of the thin wool-threads covering the whole surface and the base colours.

A boldogság kék madarai énekelnek a levelein. A nap és a hold ragyog a kék égen. A narancssárga felületet a fa mögött fényes szálakkal borítottam, így csillogó felületet értem el. Ugyanitt hímzéssel díszítettem. A gyökerek közötti területen selymet használtam.

Lifetree

2014
felt, individual technique
Size: 87 x 84 cm (34.2″ x 33″)

The life tree is a symbol of the years behind us and the countless years ahead. The tree of life is one of our most ancient symbols around the world. It symbolizes our years, our roots, our past, our branching self and our family. Our resources and treasures are found in our roots. Blue birds of happiness sing on its leaves. The sun and moon shine in the blue sky. The image was created with wet felting technique. I covered the orange surface behind the tree with shiny threads. Then I decorated it with embroidery. I used silk in the area between the roots.

2023
felt, individual technique
Size: 42 × 108 cm  (42.5″” × 16.5″)

I made this picture with wet felting technique. I dyed the colors. For the decoration, I spun most of the yarn myself on a walking spindle from the colors of the wool used on the surface of the felt. I also used pre-felts, silk fabric and hand carded wool for the detailed pattern. You can attach it to the wall with the wooden slats and rings on the back. For the felting, I used the remaining wool, colors, and felts from my other works for the front felt sheets in order to fully use the materials.

I currently have this one fish. The other pieces of this series have already found owners. They decorate and cheer up the lives of the residents in living rooms, dining rooms, and bedrooms. Years later, I still receive positive feedback about how diverse and tireless such a detailed, richly colored image is. I warmly recommend it to anyone, regardless of age, in any place.
